Furthermore, processed corn flakes for kids contain plenty of sugar along with various types of chemical flavourings. Some of the boxed varieties of corn flakes for children have almost 50 percent more sugar as compared to adult cereals.
The high sugar content in kids’ breakfast corn flakes makes this one of the worst breakfast options for kids as it increases their risk of obesity and heart disease and creates a dependency on sugar that can last a lifetime.
Recent tests conducted on three of the biggest brands of kids’ breakfast cereals – Kellogg’s Chocos, Bagrry’s muesli, and Good Earth museli, showed that all three had very high levels of sugar. In fact, a serving of Kellogg’s Chocos corn flakes contains 26.8 gms of sugar – double the prescribed sugar levels for kids!

Healthy Breakfast Cereals For Kids
“Instead of corn flakes, give your child a bowl of a wholegrain cereals such as oats, muesli, or shredded wheat OR a bowl of regular cereal but with nuts and fresh fruit added in”
A healthy breakfast for children should contain complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and proteins as this will provide your child with all the energy he needs and will help to stave off hunger cravings. Instead of corn flakes, give him a bowl of a wholegrain cereals such as oats, muesli, or shredded wheat.
Instead of giving him a processed cereal which is high in sugars and low in nutrition, give him a bowl of regular cereal but add nuts and ripe fruit to it as this will increase its nutritional value as well as satisfy his cravings for sugar in a healthy manner.
In addition to breakfast cereal, make sure that your child has some amount of protein in his breakfast. Eggs, yogurt, and cottage cheese are good sources of protein and you include at least one of these in his breakfast every day.
