Scientifically Proven Natural Ways To Remove Blackheads ASAP

Blackheads or open comodones are a common acne problem and getting rid of black heads can be painful and leave scars if it is not done correctly. Before we get into the best natural remedies for blackheads, let’s understand what causes blackheads, so that you can better prevent them. Our skin contains sebaceous glands within the pores and these glands secrete sebum – the body’s natural oil to protect and moisturize your skin. Sometimes, dead skin cells get stuck in the pores of our skin and so the sebum gets trapped beneath the skin and this forms a blackhead. While some people think that a blackhead is black because there is “dirt” collected at the top, the reason the top of a blackhead is black in colour is because sebum oxidizes when it comes in contact with air and turns black (similar to silver jewelry turning black). Now that you know how blackheads form, let’s take a look at a few natural ways to remove blackheads.

Natural Ways To Remove Blackheads

Before you use any method to get rid of your blackheads, you should first steam your face for a minimum of 10 minutes. Massage your skin gently for a few minutes and then steam your face once again. Steaming will help to dislodge the debris within your skin pores, so that it is easier for you to remove blackheads.

Gelatin-Milk Peel-Off Mask

Ingredients: 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin and 1 ½ tablespoon of milk

Method: Mix the gelatin and the milk together and heat it on a stove or microwave the mixture for 10-15 seconds. Before the mixture hardens, apply it to your face but make sure that it is not too hot. Avoid areas near your ears, hair line, and eyebrows, as the mask will pull off any hair that it comes in contact with. Once the mask has hardened completely, pull it off slowly and when you turn it over, you will actually be able to see the little blackheads sticking to the mask. Rinse your face with warm water and then apply a little coconut milk or a soothing moisturizer to your face.

Why it works: The gelatin-milk peel-off mask is one of the most effective ways to remove blackheads. The milk in this mask will ensure that your skin doesn’t get excessively dry, while the gelatin will adhere to your blackheads and the upper layer of dead skin cells on your face so that as you peel off the mask, you reveal the layer of clear smooth skin below it.

Baking Soda Face Scrub

Ingredients: 2 tablespoons of Baking Soda and 1 tablespoon of chamomile tea/ water

Method: Mix the baking soda along with fresh chamomile tea or water until it forms a thick paste. Wash your face and then apply the scrub and wait for about 20- 30 seconds. Then wet your fingers and slowly and gently scrub your face, making sure that you do not apply any pressure on areas that have large pimples or pustules. Rinse your face with lukewarm water, dab it dry with a clean towel and then apply a few dabs of moisturizer.

Why it works: The rough granules in store-bought facial scrubs can aggravate your skin and worsen your blackhead problems. However, baking soda is only mildly abrasive which is why it is an ideal homemade scrub for blackheads. Baking soda is alkaline in nature and lowers the pH levels on your skin, making it tougher for naturally-occurring bacteria to thrive on your skin. This will minimize the risk of infections within your pores, which in turn will prevent blackheads.

Multani Mitti And Cucumber Juice Face Pack

Ingredients: 3 teaspoons of multani mitti (Fuller’s Earth) and 2 teaspoons of fresh cucumber juice

Method: Mix the multani mitti and cucumber juice so that it forms a thin paste. Cleanse your skin gently but thoroughly and then apply the paste to your entire face. Make sure that you steer clear of the area around your eyes and mouth. Wait for 20 minutes and once the mask is dry, wet a ball of cotton and dab it over the entire mask so that you can wash it off easily. Use warm water to rinse your face, pat it dry and then use a moisturizer.

Why it works: Multani mitti is a natural clay that helps to absorb the excess oil from within your skin pores, while cucumber juice has a soothing effect, which is why this simple home remedy to remove blackheads is so effective.

In addition to using these home remedies for blackheads, you should also follow a regular skin care routine for clear and smooth skin. Whether you are using cosmetic products or natural products, always make sure that they are suited to your skin– you can use herbal oils for dry skin or cleansers for oily skin, depending on your skin type. Most importantly, make sure that you have the right information and that you are not following skin care tips that are actually bad for your skin and will make your blackheads worse.
